About Us

We are a couple of retired scientists who have realized a dream of having our own cottage industry.  It started with a need...we love traveling the country in our RV.  While on the road we enjoy hiking National Parks and discovering hidden gems in every town or area we visit.  Often those gems include Farmer's Markets.  At these markets we seek out handmade soaps, which are a luxury we enjoy.  We have experienced that after the pandemic, it has become rarer to find high quality homemade soaps.  At some point we decided if we can't find them, let's learn to make them!

Being science nerds at heart, we excitedly jumped into this chemistry project and experimented and tweaked recipes until we finalized the perfect "Casa Estrella" soap recipe.  This recipe yields soap that embodies all the things the two of us look for in a great bar of soap. Scent, lather, longevity, look, feel, size etc. etc.

But most importantly, our recipe uses only the highest quality, sustainably and ethically sourced ingredients. By definition, soap is made with oils and a base.  Casa Estrella Soaps contain only: olive oil, palm oil, coconut oil, sodium hydroxide (the base), sodium lactate (a hydrating salt), almond oil, mica (for color) and essential oils/fragrance oils (for scent).  That's it. We are very proud of this!

We love our Casa Estrella Soaps so much that we bring our soaps on all our travel now...even to resort hotels!  This led to us giving the soap out as gifts and then upon multiple requests from family and friends, opening our little cottage industry.
